A 36 Hour Layover in Hong Kong
GET...
Hong Kong dollars before you arrive. We had a lot of trouble getting cash out of ATMs and wasted about 2 hours trying to get money. You will want it for taxis and the places that are cash only.
STAY...
at the W Hotel Hong Kong which is a quick train ride from the airport. You can check your bag at the train stop before heading back to the airport, which is really nice! We got in late so it was nice having a quick and easy route to our hotel. The train stops at a very nice mall, you walk through it until you hit the W.
GRAB A BITE AND A DRINK...
at OZONE on the top floor of The Ritz and see amazing views of the city. Their mini wagyu burger is the best wagyu burger I've had.
HAVE LUNCH...
at Tim Ho Wan, the cheapest Michelin starred restaurant. Everything we had was amazing but we had a second serving of the BBQ pork steam buns. We went to the Olympic location because it was close to the hotel.
IF YOU'RE CRAVING SUSHI...
try Sushi Kuu and give yourself time to check out the Central district.
IF YOU VIEW DESSERT AS AN EVENT...
Check out SHARI SHARI Kakigori House and fall in love with shaved ice in a whole new way.
IF YOU NEED TO WALK OFF THE DESSERT...
check out Temple Street Night Market
We lost a lot of time trying to get cash so we opted to just walk around and get a feel of the city in between meals. There is so much we didn't do but we made the most of it and can't wait to do Hong Kong again with more time!
