Best Places to Eat in Flagstaff, Arizona
I’ve lived in Arizona most of my life, which means I have been to Flagstaff more times than I can count. Last weekend, snow was in the forecast so I headed up there with my husband and our best friend. Flagstaff is home to Northern Arizona University (NAU), with approximately 30,000 students while the general population, as of 2017, was ~70,000 so there is a large student presence. It’s no coincidence that most of the food in Flagstaff caters to the college kid and the college kid budget. It wasn’t until this past trip that I had a memorable meal…actually two memorable meals! If you’re a foodie in Flagstaff, try these two places:
1) Pizzicletta - a tiny but mighty Italian place. There is a community table and a few bar seats inside, or you can go next door to Mother Road Brewing Company and get food from Pizzicletta. We ordered the Formaggi and Salumi appetizer, the Orange wine, the amore oi mari pizza, a custom pizza, and two different flavors. YUM. It was all so good.
2. Brix — I didn’t get photos (oops!) but we enjoyed a great meal here as well. Between three of us we ordered the Steamed Mussels with Pomme Frites, Tenderbelly Pork Chop, and the Cavatelli. All fantastic.
The best part about both of these restaurants is that you are in within walking distance of Hotel Monte Vista, where you can get an after dinner drink and enjoy live music most nights.
