Caló des Moro, Mallorca

Another day in Mallorca, another beach. I rented a Mini Cooper convertible around 7:00am and left the Palma area around 7:30am to arrive at Caló des Moro around 8:30am. It was an easy, beautiful drive met with a few tight roads. By the time I approached the streets surrounding the beach entrance, people were just starting to trickle in on foot and by car but I managed to get a prime parking spot right by the entrance to the beach. Despite my luck, I was still surprised by the amount of people who were there before 9:00am on a weekday.

The gate leading down to the beach is marked Privado, but if there is one thing I learned in Mallorca is that most great things lie behind gates marked Privado.

Caló des Moro is a truly beautiful spot whether you just want to come to hike and be near the water or if you want to swim. The more picturesque beachy side, however, is down a steep cliff and tucked in a cove. If you’re afraid of heights, I don’t know if I would recommend it but with that said, I saw all kinds of ages making the climb down and up. It also a narrow strip of sand with lots of rocks so the later in the day, the harder it is to get a nice spot. I wasted too much time walking around and taking photos that by the time I was ready to descend down and cool off it was too busy for my taste.
