Three Unique Bookstores in London

Daunt Books in Marylebone. It's only fitting that I fell in love with this bookstore because it originally specialized in travel books. This location is the original one and it is a beauty. I love exploring the different ways bookstores approach displaying their titles. Here is Daunt's approach: "The intention then, as now, was to arrange books principally by country, whatever the nature of the book – fiction or non-fiction, biography, history, guide or novel – and in so doing creating wonderful browsing both for the traveller and the general reader."

Persephone Books. Persephone Books is truly unique. It's half bookstore, half publishing house. They "reprint neglected fiction and non-fiction by twentieth century (mostly) women writers." When you walk in, you will find a bunch of books with grey covers, but on the inside of each books you will find a unique printed endpaper with a matching bookmark. The booksellers are extremely knowledgable. It's not very common that you can walk-in, share that you enjoy Russian literature and the bookseller doesn't miss a beat in recommending not one, not two, but three books. I bought all three. I just finished the first recommendation, Into the Whirlwind by Eugenia Ginzburg and it was phenomenal. 

The Reading Room at the Wellcome Collection. This is where I would go with a rainy day and nowhere to be. It is "designed to encourage you to indulge your curiosity and explore more than ever before." There are 10 different sections to the room: Alchemy, Food, Travel, Body, Breath, Face, Pain, Mind, Lives and Faith, each with their own collections of objects, fiction, non-fiction and interactive activities.
